The Center's Mission

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Center's mission is to encourage and support academic research, symposia and academic conferences connected to the study of women in Judaism. These topics can be multi-disciplinary or belong to a specific academic discipline. In addition to studies about women in Judaism in the contemporary era the Fanya Gottesfeld Heller Center for the Study of Women in Judaism also supports academic studies connected with the study of Jewish women within the context of such classic Jewish sources as the Bible and the Talmud, as well as the broad sweep of Jewish history and thought and Hebrew culture and literature.
